Jendol Annual Debate Championship

Jendol Annual Debate Championship is a unique program and debate competition aimed at promoting public speaking and recognizing outstanding senior secondary school students in Lagos State as well as in the Obafemi Owode and Ado Odo/Ota educational zones of Ogun State. It aligns with Jendol Superstores' core values and commitment to excellence and innovation.

The Jendol Annual Debate Championship, also known as JADC, seeks to identify the best speechmaker and debate champion in Lagos and Ogun States public senior secondary schools. Its main goal is to improve students' public speaking skills, enabling them to become well-rounded intellectuals with unrestricted expression.

This championship focuses specifically on public speaking, English language proficiency, and logical thinking. Presented in an engaging TV game show format, it rewards all educational stakeholders involved, including students, teachers and schools. This laudable initiative is proudly organized and sponsored by the management of Jendol Superstores and produced by Santab Productions Ltd.

Objectives

  1. To raise the standard of school education through an unbiased debate competition that would promote sound education and improve public speaking skills.
  2. To reward excellence among the public secondary school students in Lagos and Ogun states.
  3. To improve the public speaking and speech making skills of the students attending public secondary schools in Lagos and Ogun states.
  4. To increase overall students’ performance in English Language in external examinations (WAEC, UTME etc.).

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Young adults [14 - 17 years old]

Class: SSS 2 Students

School Category: Public senior secondary schools in Lagos & Ogun states (Both mixed and single sex schools)

Ineligibility Criteria

Students in Private secondary schools within and outside Lagos and Ogun states

Students below 14 years and above 17 years as at 15th September, 2025.


NB: Students are not allowed to register themselves for this competition as only the school principal/ administrator or any assigned teacher is permitted to register the top 3 brilliant and eloquent students for each school.
Mixed school must include at least one female student during registration.

Debate Topic

The growing prevalence of get-rich-quick schemes in Nigeria is more beneficial than harmful to Nigerian youth and society.
