Jendol Annual Debate Championship

The Jendol Annual Debate Championship is a unique program and debate competition aimed at promoting public speaking and recognizing outstanding senior secondary school students in various local government areas of Lagos State especially Alimosho, Agege, Ifako- Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Kosofe, Shomolu, Oshodi- Isolo, Mushin, Epe, Eti-Osa, Ibeju- Lekki, Lagos Island, Surulere, Yaba & Lagos Mainland. It aligns with Jendol Superstores' core values and commitment to excellence and innovation.

The Jendol Annual Debate Championship, also known as JADC, seeks to identify the best speechmaker and debate champion in Lagos State public senior secondary schools. Its main goal is to improve students' public speaking skills, enabling them to become well-rounded intellectuals with unrestricted expression.

This championship focuses specifically on public speaking, English language proficiency, and logical thinking. Presented in an engaging TV game show format, it rewards all educational stakeholders involved, including students, teachers and schools. This laudable initiative is proudly sponsored by the management of Jendol Superstores and produced by Santab Productions Ltd.

Objectives

  1. To reward excellence among the public secondary school students in Lagos state.
  2. To increase overall students' performance in English Language in external examinations (WAEC, UTME etc.).
  3. To improve the public speaking and speech making skills of the students attending Lagos state public secondary schools.
  4. To raise the standard of school education through an unbiased debate competition that would promote sound education and improve public speaking.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Young adults [14 - 17 years old]

Class: SSS2 Students.

School Category: Public senior secondary schools in Lagos state (Both Mixed and single sex schools)

Ineligibility Criteria

Students in Private secondary schools in Lagos state

Students below 14 years and above 17 years as at 9th September, 2024.


NB: This is an individual contest and each participant will be assessed and scored individually using our ten selection criteria.
